Check-in Policy

Spirit Airlines Check-in

Spirit Airlines offers multiple check-in options, including airport counter airport check-in counter, kiosk machines at the airport and web check-in.

  • Airport Check-in: Airport check-in begins 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of the domestic flights and 3 hours prior for international flights. Passengers are required to arrive at the airport before check-in time so that they can check-in bags, get boarding passes and perform security clearance before boarding the plane. They can make use of the self-service kiosk machines at the airport.
  • Web check-in : Spirit Airlines online check-in begins 24 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight. Online check-in is not available for all passengers. Do check for eligibility of online check-in with us. Passengers can also make use of the airline mobile application.
    • Spirit Airline Loyalty Reward Program

    The frequent flyer program of Spirit Airlines is called Free Spirit. Under this program, passengers earn loyalty points by spending in dollars. These points are earned on the amount spent towards flight tickets and on using the Spirit Credit card. The points can be redeemed to get discounts and upgrades on flights.

Baggage Allowance

  • Carry-on Baggage: Spirit charges fees for carriage of carry-on baggage. The baggage size should not exceed 22 inches by 18 inches by 10 inches (56 cm x 46 cm x 25 cm) in size. The airline also allows I personal item measuring not more than 18 inches by 14 inches by 8 inches (45 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm).

  • Check-in Baggage: Checked baggage on Spirit airlines is chargeable. A standard check-in bag should not weigh more than 40lbs and should not exceed 62 inches linear dimensions. The maximum number of check-in bags allowed by the airline is 5.

Overweight baggage of more than 40lbs but less than 100lbs weight entails additional charges. Oversized baggage of more than 62 but less than 80 linear inches also entails additional charges.
